Coronavirus (COVID-19) – Preparing to Re-Open

Firstly, I would like to send my warmest wishes to you all.  The team and I hope that you and your family are well, and the lockdown hasn’t been too difficult.

Since you’ve been gone, we’ve been very busy; my husband and I have stripped the salon bare, re-decorated, sanded and spray painted anything we could get our hands on.  The salon has been deep cleaned, sorted and re-arranged following social distancing guidelines.  Our air handling unit system brings in 100% fresh air, the filters are brand new and we have installed partitions to the hair wash basins, with a further 3 arriving shortly for the reception area.

It has taken weeks of hard work to ensure that our new risk assessments are up to scratch, the staff are trained and that we have enough PPE in stock.  Not only that but our booking system and our website have needed updating for all of the changes we’ve needed to put in place.

We made the decision to split our team in two.  Though this will mean that less people will be working at one time it does help with the amount of people in the salon and the proximity we work within.  It also means that if one team are unfortunate enough to pick up a wave of COVID, we have another team waiting to come in and keep the salon open.  Due to the smaller teams, we have worked together to come up with the solution of opening longer and across 7 days a week – so we can see more of you.

I have to say a huge thank you to my team, they’ve been fantastic in helping me with the rota and enabling these changes to take place. Our schedules look a little different and we have had to allow extra time for deep cleaning and also sanitising the station and the kit after every client.

In order for Ventura to make it through this incredibly difficult time; I have had to make some decisions to ensure the longevity of the business and look after the jobs of my team.  After attending online courses and seeking expert’s advice within the industry, we have made some changes to our pricing which you can find here. We have not had a price increase since November 2018 but unfortunately due to the ‘non-revenue making’ cleaning times, and additional costs we must incur i.e. staff PPE, gloves, masks and visors, guest gowns, disposable towels – it has been necessary. We will also now be asking for deposits, this is because we simply can’t afford no-shows, and we also respect your time too.  You can read our deposit and cancelation policy here.

Hopefully  you can understand why we had to make these changes.

I now have the next big task – getting you all booked in; being inside a Leisure Centre means we will need to follow their rules and dates to open. This date is not yet set, and it does keep changing; so, we cannot book you in until we know for surehopefully this will be the beginning of July.  Please, be patient we do have a booking plan (see our ‘Guide to re-opening’ here) We will be contacting you and advertising as soon as we know.

Lastly, thank you all for your understanding and your continued patience moving forward – we really appreciated all your support. It’s now more than ever that this small business needs you most.
