Balayage & Ombre

Balayage means sweeping in French. During this colour technique, our stylists hand-paint natural-looking highlights onto the hair. This results in a low-maintenance, natural gradation of lighter hues towards the end of your hair. Balayage can be achieved with a range of incredible colours, including platinum blondes, caramel shades, beautiful brunettes, and dynamic red tones.

While balayage is more of a colour technique, ombre is more of a style. Ombre means shading in French. During this service, your stylist will add lighter hues to the mid and bottom layers of hair and leave the top section darker.

Our balayage and ombre experts will look at your hair type and suggest the best style and technique for your unique needs.

Highlights and Lowlights

Highlights and lowlights are classic colour techniques that add dimension, movement, and depth to hair. While highlights are achieved by adding lighter shades to your hair colour, lowlights are achieved by adding darker ones.

Depending on the look you’re after our stylists might use foils and other approaches. Popular highlight and lowlight options include smaller baby lights and face-framing money piece highlights.

Creative Colour

Fashion Colours and Pastel hues allow you to show the world your individuality. Whether you’re feeling bold and want a whole head of vibrant colour or a more subtle look with hidden colour panels, we will find a look that makes you feel fabulous. Chat with your colour technicians about all our colour options and we will find a shade that you LOVE.

Creative colours generally require pre-lightening and you might need a few services for your existing colour to lift. We always work to protect the integrity of your hair and will advise on a treatment plan to deliver the best results. Since brighter shades tend to fade more easily than their permanent counterparts, we will share top maintenance tips with you to keep your colour looking vibrant for longer.

Red Hair

Red shades continue to have many on-trend moments, embracing vibrancy and warmth. Magnificent magentas, classy coppers, and more subtle peach tones keep turning heads. Our colour technicians will work with you to find the best shade of red that complements your skin tone. If your hair needs lightening before colour application, they will also suggest treatment systems that can strengthen and repair your hair throughout the process.

Hair Colour Correction

During colour correction services we neutralise unwanted shades, enhancing your look and creating a colour you adore. Whether you’ve had a disaster at another salon or a box dye job took a wrong turn, we can work our magic and get your locks back to all their glory. Colour correction services can also help restore over-bleached hair and get rid of brassy tones. Remember, our colour experts have seen it all, so never feel embarrassed when it comes to correcting your colour.

Grey Coverage

Our expert stylists can successfully cover grey hair in a wide range of shades. We use a few different products and techniques for superb grey coverage, including demi-permanent colours which effectively blend the grey hair. Grey hair can be covered by a range of colours including gentle blondes, honey shades, platinum hues, chestnut browns, and so much more. Our colour experts will find the best shades for your skin tone and hair type.

FAQs About Your Hair Colour Service at Ventura

Will hair colour damage my hair?

«

No. When you colour your hair with our colour experts we will take every step to ensure the health of your hair. We will advise on the best treatments and protocols to keep your hair in tip-top shape.

Do I need a patch test before a hair colour appointment?

«

Yes, a patch test is essential if you're new to our salon or haven't had a colour service with us in the last six months. Your safety and wellbeing is always our priority at Ventura. That's why we follow a Colour Allergy Testing Policy for the protection and peace of mind of all our clients.

We are delighted to use the advanced colour allergy screening system from Colourstart which allows you to do the patch test at home. This is a service which tests if you have an allergy to PPD. Buy your Colourstart kit here.

How do I choose the right hair colour for me?

«

Our colourists will guide you during a complimentary consultation. We'll consider your skin tone, eye colour, lifestyle, and personal preferences to recommend a shade and technique that suits you perfectly.

Can I switch from dark to blonde in one session?

«

Lightening dark hair to blonde usually takes multiple sessions to maintain the health of your hair. Our colour expedrts will create a tailored plan to help you achieve your desired look gradually while protecting your hair.

How long will my hair colour last?

«

The longevity of hair colour depends on the type of colour and your aftercare routine. Permanent colour can last several weeks, while semi-permanent colour gradually fades with each wash. Using salon-recommended shampoos and conditioners helps preserve vibrancy.

How is balayage different to highlights?

«

Balayage is a freehand painting technique that creates a natural, sun-kissed look with soft transitions between colours. Highlights, on the other hand, are achieved by weaving sections of hair and lightening them from root to tip for a more defined look.

How often should I colour my hair?

«

This will depend on the colour service you receive. Balayage treatments are more low maintenance than covering greys for example. For balayage, you might only come in every 3-4 months, however, for full head tints or grey coverage you might come in every 4-8 weeks. Our stylists will discuss frequency during your appointment.

What are money piece highlights?

«

Money piece highlights offer beautiful face-framing results. Your stylist will highlight the front sections of the hair that frame your face. This enhances your natural features.
